We do our part to be part of the sustainable change we want to see in the world. Our sustainability work is carried out across the Nordics and the Baltics, with a number of contributors and the management at the forefront. We at Atea aim to be 100% circular, equal and have a positive impact on society by 2030.

All employees will take part in the plan in various ways, and this will be very important in the time to come. We also expect this to be very positive for our customers, who make stricter and stricter demands on sustainability. Atea is already a leader in sustainability, and shows a clear responsibility through our new sustainability plan towards 2030.

Our sustainability work

Five sustainability goals

We have selected five targets where we will make the biggest possible difference. Every year we will report on how far we have come in this work.

1 million: Provide sustainability training to over 1 million people on how IT can be used in the face of local and global challenges.

TP2B: Achieve our vision of The Place to Be, which involves being a leader in the industry in building a diverse and equal workforce where we together build the future with IT.

100 : 1: Make our innovation footprint bigger than our carbon footprint, and reach a 100:1 ratio by harnessing the power of IT.

1 : 1: For every service and product we launch on the market, we take back at least one device – extending IT life and conserving resources.

50%: Achieve at least a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions at Atea. This includes phasing out fossil fuels, reducing air travel, halving transport emissions and using 100% renewable energy.

The UN's sustainability goals

Through Atea, we have selected some sustainability targets where we can make the biggest possible difference.

Environmental work

Reduce emissions by 50%: We work continuously to reduce our carbon footprint, and will cut emissions from both transport, travel, electricity and heat and waste. The goal is to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030.

Environmental requirements and ethical guidelines: In addition, we have a strong focus on the environment in packaging and transport to customers, and work closely with our distributors on their environmental work. Our ethical guidelines contain environmental requirements to reduce carbon emissions in production and the entire product life cycle.

Active environmental work: We shall meet our employees, customers, suppliers and society's expectations with an active climate and environmental responsibility. The biggest environmental impact lies in our work with the transition to a circular IT economy, and how our services can contribute to reducing emissions for our customers.

Keeping climate accounts: Atea has kept climate accounts since 2007. The climate accounts from 2017 show that in Norway we have reduced emissions per employee by 43%. The climate account is therefore an important tool for achieving our goals going forward, while also contributing to transparency about how far we have come in our work.

Climate-neutral operations: Atea works continuously to reduce emissions and compensates by buying climate quotas that theoretically remove the equivalent of CO2 from the atmosphere. Atea Norge covers 80% of emissions by purchasing EUA allowances. For the remaining 20%, we collaborate with the organization ZeroMission where we have purchased quotas in a Gold Standard and CDM/CER-certified project.

Climate measures for meetings and events

We place the environment and climate as an important precondition in all our services. The same applies to our events, which, regardless of whether they are physical or digital, must be carried out in line with our sustainability strategy.
